Infant Program The primary developmental tasks of the infant are to develop secure relationships with trusted adults, to search for meaning and patterns in their surroundings, and to form a sense of themselves as separate beings who can affect their environment through communication and exploration. To this end, Child Care Partners emphasizes the importance of warm, responsive interactions that send a clear message to each infant: you are prized, precious, and worthy of attention.
Every effort is made to meet the physical and emotional needs of our infants promptly and lovingly. As they come to see their caregivers as supportive and consistent, infants are empowered to explore their environment with all of their senses. Teachers observe and interact with each child, and make available appropriate materials and activities to aid them in their quest for meaning and a strong sense of self. With this support, an infant's repertoire of random movements becomes increasingly intentional, and instinctual grasping becomes a thoughtful choice about how to gather information about their environment. In addition to providing warm, responsive care, our Teachers will:
- Use sign language daily to aid your child's brain development and language acquisition
- Provide a variety of age-appropriate sensory experiences to help your baby learn about textures, sounds, colors, and other physical attributes of their environment
- Introduce your child to basic music and movement experiences
- Read simple picture books to your child to facilitate early literacy
- Expose your child to the natural world with outdoor experiences
Weekly lesson plans help Teachers attend to crucial areas of infant development. High/Scope's Infant and Toddler Key Developmental Indicators act as a guide in developing curriculum, and include activities relating to:
