Toddler Program

The toddler years are an exciting period of growth characterized by increased physical activity, language development, and investigation. Image While the task of the toddler is to solidify a sense of independence, many toddlers still want and need a great deal of nurturing, comforting, and warm physical contact. Childcare Partners offers a thoughtful balance of freedom and support in our toddler programs, allowing your child to test his or her emerging skills under the supervision of caring adults who understand the needs and challenges of this unique age group. We provide a predictable daily routine to help toddlers feel a sense of security and control. Knowing "what comes next" is important for this curious and active group, and our Teachers are trained to show patience and respect for individual differences and temperaments. Toddlers are offered an abundance of choices throughout the day, and are actively encouraged to explore a variety of developmentally appropriate, engaging learning activities.

Still egocentric and unable to fully understand the feelings and reactions of their peers, toddlers rely on adults to model social skills and lovingly guide their behavior. Patient repetition and redirection are the primary means through which we channel toddler's early efforts to assert their independence into an opportunity for learning about the effects of their actions on others. In addition to providing a balance of challenge and support, our Teachers will:

  • Offer your child daily opportunities for physical development through outdoor play and movement and music activities
  • Work with families of older toddlers to set attainable goals for toilet learning
  • Promote language development by asking questions, naming objects, reading books, and pairing words with sign language to increase vocabulary
  • Provide daily experiences with water or other soothing tactile materials
  • Allow your child to experiment with a variety of appropriate art materials
  • Build your child's confidence by facilitating the acquisition of self-help skills Image
